Nusail Engineering Consultancy was contracted by MOAF to provide Bathymetry Survey services for the Dibba Fishing Harbour, Sultanate of Oman.

Scope of the Survey

• Pre bathymetric survey to determine the sea bed profile along the fishing Harbour in Dibba and analyze the dredging quantity.

Survey Procedure

An Odom Hydrotrack Echo Sounder was utilized, with 200 kHz digital outputs logged by the navigation computer. Bar checks were conducted daily, and corrected GPS-derived Latitude and Longitude were used. A Valeport Tide Gauge was installed at the GPDCO breakwater to measure tidal variation, which was used to reduce the bathymetric data to Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT). The survey datum used was WGS 84 with elevations in Mean Sea Level. The survey was conducted in April 2012.

Results

The bathymetry chart was prepared at a 1:750 scale. The survey area revealed irregular seabed features with relatively shallow depths.
